Honor launched its latest number series 80, 80 Pro and 80 SE. Like many other Chinese vendors, Honor focused on the enhancement of its imaging system. The resolution of Honor 80 and 80 Pro’s main cameras came to 160MP, improved from 54MP on its previous generation. Honor 80 and 80 Pro get Qualcomm chipsets while the more affordable 80 SE uses Dimensity 900 and 64MP main camera.
Honor 80 Pro, 80, and 80 SE mainly target at price segments of 3,500-4,000 CNY (490-560 USD), 2,500-3,500 CNY (350-490 USD) and 2,000-2,500 CNY (280-350 USD) respectively. The new models will improve Number family’s volume share in Honor’s shipment, which has been surpassed by the lower-tier X series in Q2 2022, and make Honor’s wholesale ASP grow in the following quarters. Honor 70 and 70 Pro were facing strong competition from Redmi K40 and K50, Xiaomi 11 and 12, Samsung S22, Oppo Reno 8 Pro+, and Huawei Nova 9 Pro etc.
Honor has brought is its latest foldable phones Magic Vs and Vs Ultimate as well, which are actually planned for announcement not only in China but also in overseas markets. According to our research, foldable phones overperformed the overall market amid strong headwinds with solid volume growth during Chinese 11.11 online shopping festival and we found Honor’s foldable phones had much less volume share contribution to the brand’s shipment compared to Samsung’s. We have suggested that this segment has potential growing space, especially for Honor.
