Posted on by

As per TechInsights, Lenovo-Motorola’s global smartphone shipments declined -33% YoY in Q4 2022. Wholesale revenue declined lesser than shipments (-21% YoY) driven by double digit wholesale ASP growth of +18% YoY.  However, the vendor remained profitable this quarter as well. Americas continue to hold the major share for the vendor but Asia Pacific and Western Europe holds a lot of potential.

Regionally the vendor declined in all major regions except Western Europe. The vendor was successfully placed among the top 10 in 3 regions i.e, Central & Latin America, North America and Western Europe. Central & Latin America (LATAM) is the company’s largest region by far. This is followed by North America. The Americas together accounted for lion’s share of the firm’s overall shipments this quarter.

Estimated global wholesale smartphone revenue went down, more or less in line with shipment decline despite ASP growth tried to offset the decline. Model-wise, G series contributed to majority volume share, followed by E and Edge series. Lenovo-Motorola needs to up it 5G game in terms of shipments.
