This one hails from Australia. Ross Oldman was originally looking for a daily driver, and as fate would have it, he stumbled upon this cool classic ute in the process.
“About two years ago, I was in the market for a daily driver within a budget of $ AU 20,000.
I am very interested in classic cars, and as I couldn’t find a modern car in my price range that I would enjoy driving. I started looking around the classic cars for sale.
I found this 1961 Standard Vanguard at an auction.
Standard Vanguard’s were assembled in Australia and in 1964 the company changed their name to Triumph, a name most people will be familiar with.
These cars had an outstanding reputation for reliability when I was in my teens, so as I was familiar with the brand I was not concerned by their relative rarity.
An Australian only manufacture, approximately four thousand were built between 1961 and 1963.
The utility has a two litre six cylinder engine and a three’ speed with overdrive gearbox.
I rolled over the first ten thousand miles in my ownership a couple of months ago.
The vehicle has beefed very reliable and is a pleasure to drive.
I have no regrets about choosing this vehicle and a sixty year old classic as my daily driver.”
