According to TechInsights (Strategy Analytics)’s Wireless Smartphone Strategies (WSS) service research report, handset will continue the downturn track in 2023 and global smartphone sales volume will show flat YoY in 2023. Global Smartphone Shipments Expect to Fall -1% YoY in 2023

TechInsights has bumped up 2023 smartphone shipments forecast numbers in its latest report, considering the reopening of China, the slowing interest rate increase by the Fed, and the better-than-expected economy outlook in Europe.

In 2023, Global smartphone shipment is expected to fall slightly at -1% YoY, followed by a rebound of +3% YoY in 2024. Handset worldwide shipment will decline -4% YoY in 2023 and rebound at +2% YoY in 2024.

According to TechInsights Wireless Smartphone Strategies (WSS) service research report, both global smartphone shipments (sell-in) and sales (sell-through) decreased MoM. However, the numbers are still below the level of 2022, implying negative yearly growth.

HMD (Nokia) handset shipments continue to slide down; despite the decline in volumes, the estimated handset wholesale ASP was high, thanks to the larger smartphones mix out of total shipments in Q4 2022. The smartphone and featurephone shipment also dropped with the global handset decline.
